Filing Income Tax Return Online

NJ WebFile
File Your 2008 NJ-1040 From Your Computer

The New Jersey Division of Taxation is offering free internet filing of personal income tax returns for this tax season.

Every successfully filed return is assigned a confirmation number. That number is presented to you as part of the last step in the process. You can check on the status of your refund, using the automated refund inquiry system (ARIS) by calling 1-800-323-4400.

Most resident returns can be filed using this program, including first time filers.

*NOTE: First time filers will be required to use direct deposit if due a refund.

What you need to get started:

* Just check to make sure that you are eligible to use NJ WebFile.
* Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape Navigator 7.0. The Web site is best
viewed in Internet Explorer.

Make Payments Electronically

* E-Check. This option is available on the Division’s Web site and also by phone
when filing individual or business tax returns.
* Credit Card. Pay online or by phone (1-800-2PAYTAX, toll free) using a Visa,
American Express, MasterCard, or Discover credit card.
* EFT. Business taxpayers with a prior-year liability of $10,000 or more in any

may choose to voluntarily submit payments by EFT. Businesses must register with
the Division of Revenue before they can pay by EFT.
