District of Columbia - Office of Tax and Revenue

The Electronic Taxpayer Service Center allows businesses to report and pay their tax obligations using the Internet. This secure site also allows taxpayers to review their tax balances.

Business Log On

When you register with the Electronic Taxpayer Service Center through the Office of Tax and Revenue, each user authorized by your business receives a secure user id and password via email.

Account Summary

Upon successful logon to the site, a list of your registered DC accounts and outstanding account balances is displayed. From here, you can file a form or bring up the full details of any account.

Tax Period Listing

Folder tabs corresponding to your registered account types allow you quick access to a financial breakdown of each tax period filed. You can change the periods listed using the navigation fields on the page. Our innovative account balance feature gives you secure access to the most updated and accurate account information. As soon as you file a form or make a payment, it is reflected in your balance and transaction history.

File a Form - Step 1

You can file a tax form by clicking on one of the left navigation bar options. The Electronic Taxpayer Service Center currently allows you to file Withholding and Sales Tax Monthly Returns, and Corporate and Unincorporated Estimated Payments. The first step when filing any type of tax form is to select the account number, year, and month for which you are filing.

File a Form - Step 2

Next, enter the line items required to calculate your tax. The information icons to the left of each line provide the instructions for the form. Press the ‘Calculate’ button to proceed.

File a Form - Step 3

The calculated tax return is displayed for your review and approval. Penalty and interest for late filing are also calculated on the return.

File a Form - Step 4

You are provided with a confirmation number upon submitting your tax form. In addition, a copy of the return is delivered to your message inbox. To satisfy tax obligation, choose to pay online or by mail. If you choose to "Pay by Mail," a payment coupon is delivered to your Electronic Taxpayer Service Center message box.

Make a Payment - Step 5

Tax can be paid online by credit card or Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT). Credit card payments are handled by Official Payments. The credit card information entered on the Official Payments payment screen is not provided to the DC Office of Tax and Revenue.

Confirmation of Receipt

A separate confirmation number is provided for each payment remitted.

Inbox and Email

Once you have submitted a form on the site, you receive an email confirmation in your Inbox. To retrieve it, select the Message Center option from the left navigation bar. An image of your tax form will be available to you as an attachment. In the coming months, the DC Office of Tax and Revenue will be able to deliver correspondence to your message inbox.

Form Image Attachment

You can download the attachment and save it to your hard drive, or print it out for your records.
