Individual Income Tax (Form 1040N)
There are two ways to e-file your Nebraska Individual Income Tax Return:
* Federal/State Electronic Filing
(File your federal and state returns at the same time)
- The Federal/State e-file program provides a means to file both federal and
state tax returns in one transmission to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The software used to do is approved by both the IRS and the Nebraska Department
of Revenue.
* NebFile (1040N OR 1040NS) Online Filing
(Nebraska return only — FREE)
- NebFile is a method for you to electronically file your Nebraska Individual
Income Tax Return over the Internet, and is FREE to use. It is limited to
full-year Nebraska residents.
Before using the NebFile system:
* Verify that you are eligible to use NebFile,
* Locate your NebFile PIN on your postcard or in your tax booklet,
* Make sure you have ALL of your Forms W-2 and 1099 showing Nebraska
withholding, and
* Have a copy of your completed 2008 federal tax return to look at when
entering federal data into NebFile.

ATTENTION
If you are expecting an income tax refund from the state, and you want to get it in about 7 to 10 business days instead of waiting months, you must use e-file instead of mailing in paper forms!
